Speech Evaluator (rev. Wed 26 Nov 1997 mjj)

Speech Evaluator

The evaluator is a very important part of the Toastmasters experience.

The evaluator provides immediate feedback to the speaker so that the speaker knows what he/she did right, and how he/she can improve his presentation the next time he/she speaks.

The evaluator usually works with the speaker's Communication and Leadership manual or one of the Advanced Communication and Leadership manuals. There are guidelines for the evaluator to follow when he/she evaluates the speaking assignment.

Also available are the evaluation forms: How I Saw You, How I Understood You, How I Heard You that the evaluator can use.

The evaluator gives positive reinforcement of what the speaker did well, as well as constructive criticism on what the speaker could do better by suggesting what could have been done to improve the presentation.

As everything that the evaluator is his/her opinion, the evaluator offers his/her observations as only his/her opinion.
