Ballot Counter (rev. Wed 26 Nov 1997 -- mjj)

Ballot Counter

The Ballot Counter is very important to the Toastmasters meeting. He/She helps the attendees select the recipients of the merit awards that are presented during the meeting.

The Ballot Counter is the person who counts the ballots that determines the winners of the merit awards: Best Table Topic speaker, Best Evaluator, Best Speaker, Best Program Manager, and best Humorist of the Meeting.

Sometimes the Ballot Counter is the Sergeant-At-Arms; other times the Ballot Counter is the person or persons who are so designated by the Chairman, Toastmaster of the Day, and Chief Evaluator.

Ballots are cast for Best Table Topics speaker, the Speaking Program, the Evaluation Program, Best Program Manager, and Best Humorist.

If there is a tie in the balloting, the Ballot Counter then becomes the tie breaker, as there are no ties. The Ballot Counter then chooser the winner.
