Ah Counter (rev. Wed 26 Nov 1997 -- mjj)

Ah Counter

The Ah Counter of the meeting is the winner of the Wizard of Ahs award of the previous meeting.

The Ah Counter counts the verbal pauses that the various speakers will utter during the meeting.

Verbal pauses are the "filler" words used by various individuals to fill the spaces between normal worlds.

By making people more aware of the use of their verbal pauses, those individuals can then exercise more control over their use of verbal pauses.

Examples of verbal pauses include, but is not limited to, "ah", "um", "uh", "oh", "you know", and so forth. Verbal pauses are those pauses that fill the voids in one's speech that would otherwise be silent, as they are not grammatically correct.

The Chairman will call on the Ah Counter to award the Wizard of Ahs award to the person with the most verbal pauses; this is one of the demerit awards. The winner of the Wizard of Ahs award will then be the Ah Counter at the next meeting.
